The building was projected by the architect Tomás Taveira, received an Honorable Mention from the 1994 Valmor Prize.
This office building has a predominant front over Av. 5 de Outubro, with the corner treatment being different from the rest of the composition. It is part of the “free style” chain, characterized by the mixture of various languages, in this case through the Egyptian-style crowning or the neo-modernist volumes at the gallery’s top, defined by a strong and extensive color spectrum. The jury noted that this property “(…) expressed in the design of its facades a formal relationship with a mythical element of popular imagination – the guitar (…) imposing itself in a striking and innovative way in the daily life of the city”.
